A green, sustainable e-bike with head-turning retro styling. The story of Beachman began in 2016, as an idea for a retro brand that stood for the best things in life. Fast forward to 2019, and the two founders Ben Taylor and Steve Payne had a chance encounter in a coffee shop. Ben, the creator of the Beachman name with the dream to build a wildly new 50cc cafe racer, and Steve, the wild cafe racer builder who could bring that dream to life – on the condition that the bikes were electric. This simple suggestion changed the course of Beachman forever.
In the fall of 2020, Steve completed work on their first prototype, a modified 1979 Kawasaki KZ200 which they simply referred to as “Zero”.
With a battery system hand-built by Steve, a solid electric drivetrain, and proper café racer styling, they knew they had something special.
Around this time they found a factory that trusted their vision and was capable of building a production model. Using queues from their Bike Zero prototype and building off of a classic 70s 125cc platform, they designed their first production bike using a mostly standard motorcycle and E-bike parts. After crossing their fingers, they ordered 30 bikes to be produced and prayed they would live up to their dream.
They unloaded their first shipping crate by hand, and when they cracked it open they were pleasantly surprised by a set of bikes that exceeded their expectations. They dubbed it the Founders Edition E-bike.
Two weeks later all 30 bikes had been sold and they were off to the races. Since then they’ve been working day and night to build Beachman into the company they always thought it could be.
From road trips across the country to get that perfect shot of the bike, to hand building their own retail store in the West End of Toronto, Canada.
In 2022, they began manufacturing bikes in Toronto. Their 2022 model traces its roots back to 1964. With updated styling, increased battery range, redesigned tires, and a retooled riding experience, this is their most advanced bike yet.
“An E-Bike that rides like an ultralight motorcycle and draws the eyes of the crowd as any vintage cafe racer should. Riding this every day, you may experience unadulterated feelings of freedom, the wind in your hair, and a desire to get outside. Your daily commute becomes a playful cruise. A trip to the coffee shop is now an opportunity to explore the neighborhood. You can do it all without burning a drop of gasoline.”
